Using the alliance system, a savvy Prince or Princess can expand his or her power base and lay siege to castles with a much larger force than previously possible.
The alliance system allows a high-level Prince or Princess to establish an alliance, or expanded Blood Pledge, after completing a quest to prove one's worth. An alliance can be composed of multiple pledges.
A regular pledge cannot contain more than one Prince, but an alliance pledge may have many royals within it. However, only one Prince or Princess may be the official leader with power.
When two or more pledges form an official alliance, they will become one larger pledge with a common leader and a common alliance pledge emblem. (Obviously, the group leader and new emblem should be agreed upon by the Princes discussing a merger prior to the alliance being created.)
A major benefit of the alliance is the ability to create a much larger pledge, with multiple sovereigns in it. A Prince in charge of a regular Blood Pledge has all responsibility for running the pledge. If a Prince joins under an alliance Prince, they forfeit all of their former leadership abilities. They can no longer declare war, accept members into the pledge, or administer the pledge.
If a sub-Prince decides to leave the alliance, his original pledge members will remain under the alliance Prince unless they choose to leave.
In order to create an alliance, the Princes or Princesses involved must have completed the level 45 Prince quest. Once this is complete, any Prince or Princess who creates a pledge using the/createcommand (or the party options window) will automatically have an alliance pledge.
Likewise, pledges created prior to completing the level 45 prince quest will automatically become an alliance pledge when the level 45 quest is completed. (There is no need to create a new pledge.)
Joining an alliance involves the automatic inclusion of any joining Prince's pledge members. So, if a Prince has twenty pledge members and joins an alliance, those twenty members are automatically enrolled into the alliance - whether they are online at the time or not.
If the joining Prince has too many pledge members for the alliance Prince to accept, the joining Prince will see a notice in the chat window informing them of the problem.
Another option is for the Prince to dismiss his or her pledge prior to joining the alliance. Then, each former member of that pledge may join the alliance individually.
Blood Pledges with pledge houses or castle ownership maynotjoin an alliance. Home or castle ownership must be forfeited before the leading Prince or Princess may join an alliance.
The same house and castle rules that apply to regular pledges also apply to the alliance pledge: if you own a castle, you will not be able to participate in a house auction; consequently, if you own a house, you won't be able to siege.
The alliance Prince has the ability to set a member's rank, which in turn gives the members specific privileges based on that particular rank. A member can be given the following ranks:
Declaring war works the same way it works for any Blood Pledge. The only difference in an alliance is that the alliance Prince or Princess must be the one to declare war.
Like in declaring war, accepting members into an alliance works the same way as it does with un-allied pledges. The potential member uses the/joincommand to join. The only difference is that not any royal in an alliance can admit members to a pledge. The potential member must visit the alliance Prince or Princess for a join attempt to be successful.
Note! An alliance Prince or Princess may not join forces with another alliance leader.
There is currently no limit to the number of Blood Pledges that may join together in an alliance; however, there is a limit to the total number of members in an alliance.
One way to expand your pledge's membership and power is to get other, smaller pledges to join your alliance, as long as you do not go over the total number of members you are allowed to lead. You can also have your pledge members do some recruiting.
The best way to expand any Blood Pledge - alliance or regular pledge - is for the Prince or Princess to complete the level 45 quest. After this is done, the number of members they will be capable of receiving is six times the value of the Prince or Princess's charisma!
Once the Prince or Princess has reached level 50, the number of pledge members he or she can accept raises tonine timesthe leading sovereign's charisma value.
